Galo pauses at the doorway, glancing back. The eggs are nestled in the flames. Safe. His shoulders relax.
He turns and walks across the hall. The room across the hall is lit by glowing crystals along the walls that brighten as he passes. His claws scrape on the stone as he approaches the steaming pool at the far side. He sets Lio down on the edge and sits down beside him.
Galo peels off his clothes and drops into the water with a hiss. “Yeah, this is exactly what I needed.” He turns to face Lio with his hand held out. “Come on.”
